Getting your bike ready to ride
When you order a bicycle from our web shop, this bicycle will be delivered to you in the same state that a bicycle mechanic would receive it in.
In other words, you will have to get it ready to ride yourself.
You'll find the information needed to do so here - it's easier than you might think!
Tools needed:
- Allen key
- 15mm (pedal) spanner
- Assembly Grease
Start off by loosening the handlebar stem bolt, in order to adjust the height of the handlebars.
While doing so, keep in mind never to put the handlebars higher than the markings on the handlebar stem.
Once you've adjusted the handlebars to your satisfaction, retighten the stem bolt and check whether the handlebars are straight and firmly secured, then check whether the position of the handlebars is correct.
Then move onto the pedals.
There are usually two pedals; one on the left, one on the right.
Using assembly grease will make mounting the pedals easier.
Finally, the height of the saddle should be adjusted.
In order to determine the proper height for your saddle, use an allen key to loosen the seatpost. Adjust the height of the seat and retighten the seatpost.
The best way to determine whether you've found the right height is getting on your bicycle with one of the pedals at the lowest position and placing your foot horizontally on top of the pedal.
If you find that your knee is slightly bent while doing so, it means you've found the perfect saddle height.
Try to avoid over-stretching and adjust the saddle height by following the steps described above if needed.
