Step by step guide; Replacing bicycle handlebars

This guide applies to any bicycle with a stem that has the option of replacing handlebars.
This includes most city bikes, touring bikes, tandems, road bikes and mountain bikes.
With some city bikes and transport bikes, the handlebars are part of the stem.
In this case, please consult the following link. (See Replacing the handlebar stem)
Important to know before you begin
With older models, the handlebars can be mounted using a hex bolt.
With newer stem models and A-head handlebar cams, the handlebars are fastened with allen bolts.
The diameter of the middle section of the handlebars, where they are mounted on the stem, is usually 25.4mm.
Some mountain bikes and road bikes may have different diameters, like 31.8mm or 35mm.
