If a worn-out chain needs to be replaced by a new one, the number of links must be determined.
Since the worn bicycle chain has lengthened and just by holding the new and old chain leads to an inaccurate result by holding them together leads to a different number of chain links.

And this is how it goes:
1. Set the chain link counter on the chain and put the counter to zero
2. Mark any link with a visible point
3. From mark on, go 1 x with the through chain with the link counter
4. Read the chain link number
5. Count new chain from the chain reel with chain link counter and cut chain to length (in comparison the worn chain, the new chain is shorter)
