Step by step guide; Replacing the saddle on a patented seatpost
Saddles can be mounted on two different types of seatposts,
candle seatposts and patented seatposts.
Candle seatposts require an additional part to mount the saddle: the saddle clamp.
With patented seatposts, the saddle clamp is built into the seatpost and the saddle can therefore be mounted directly onto the seatpost.
This guide only applies to mounting a saddle on a patented seatpost.

There are many kinds of patented seatposts that all look slightly different, but their function is mainly the same.
Generally, they consist of two separate parts, connected and screwed together with an allen bolt.
The saddle clamp can function horizontally in some cases and vertically in others.
Step 1 : Removing the old saddle

The seatpost clamp that holds the saddle can be fastened with one or several allen bolts. (1, 2)
Partially undo the bolts, so that the clamp is released from the saddle frame.
You may need to remove the clamping part completely, if tilting the clamp is not enough to remove the saddle. (3)
Step 2 : Mounting the new saddle

Put the saddle in the center of the seatpost and make sure that the clamp is correctly placed over the saddle frame. (2)
Partially tighten the bolts, so the saddle can still be maneuvered and adjusted.
Once the saddle is adjusted to preference, the bolts can be fully tightened. (3)
When you’re cycling, a lot of pressure is placed on the saddle frame, so make sure that the connection is firmly tightened and there’s no chance of tilting.

Never mount the saddle clamp all the way to one end (2, 3) on the seatpost. This would cause uneven weight distribution and over time it could lead to the saddle frame snapping.
