The low weight of the Apax MIPS is due to the in-mold production process, where the outer shell is thermally bonded to the Hi-EPS. This results in a solid surface connection, responsible for a very stable construction. The bottom of the helmet is protected by another layer of polycarbonate. Thanks to Seamless Connection, this fits seamlessly onto the outer shell. For maximum safety on rugged trails, the back and side areas have been extended downwards. This creates even greater head coverage. In the event of a fall with an oblique impact, MIPS is designed to reduce the rotational forces on the head. Large ventilation openings ensure optimal ventilation, while fly mesh keeps insects away from the head, and the height-adjustable visor guarantees extra protection in the field of vision.

AIRFLOW VENTING
A factor that greatly influences wearing comfort is the ventilation of the helmet. The strategically calculated placement of the ventilation openings is crucial for optimal ventilation of the interior. Air is directed inward, flows along the head, and can exit at the back. The head is thus always pleasantly climate-controlled.

CERAMIC SHELL
All Alpina helmets manufactured using the in-mold process feature a robust Ceramic Shell. In this process, a polycarbonate sheet is stretched under high heat to the shape of the future helmet, pressed under high pressure onto the Hi-EPS body, and thermally bonded to the helmet. The Ceramic Shell is characterized by various qualities: it is break and scratch-resistant, UV-stable, and antistatic.

EDGE PROTECT
Edge Protect is an additional polycarbonate plate that enhances the Inmold helmets. It covers the edges at the bottom of the helmet. This protects the Hi-EPS and increases the durability of the helmet.

ERGOMATIC
Tried and tested hundreds of thousands of times and used on all Alpina helmets: the strap buckle with the red push button and the multi-stage automatic locking mechanism. Ergomatic can be operated with one hand—the strap can be loosened upwards and tightened downwards—and it is impossible for the locking mechanism to open by itself in the event of a fall.

HI-EPS
The inner shell of all Alpina helmets is made from Hi-EPS (High Expanded Polystyrene). The material has microscopically small air chambers that absorb the forces acting on the helmet during a collision. Hi-EPS provides optimal protection while allowing for extra-thin wall thicknesses and narrow helmet shapes.

INMOLD
In the Inmold production process, the polycarbonate outer shell of the helmet is thermally bonded to the Hi-EPS inner shell of the helmet body under high heat and pressure. This creates a large and inseparable connection between the upper and lower shell. The advantage: the helmet is very light while being extremely stable.

MIPS
MIPS is a system that protects against brain injuries that can be caused by rotational movements during a collision. The low-friction insert allows for a sliding movement of 10-15 mm in all directions, thereby reducing the rotational motion during a fall. MIPS thus offers extra protection.

RUN SYSTEM ERGO FLEX
The size of all Alpina helmets can be individually adjusted via the Run System using a smoothly rotating dial. The Run System Ergo Flex is Alpina's lightest and most comfortable adjustment system. The filigree construction conforms evenly to the head, increasing protection. The Run System Ergo Flex can be adjusted using a fine ratchet—there is no more individual, smoother, and more comfortable way to adjust a helmet.

Y-CLIP
A helmet can only provide the best possible protection if it remains in the optimal position during a collision. The adjustment and attachment of the two straps under the ear play a decisive role in this. The Y-clip system guarantees millimeter-precise adjustment—in just a few seconds.
