Unior’s history:

Many forges were established in the Pohorje mountains in Slovenia during the 19th century.
They used the hydroelectricity generated by mountain streams to power production.
Four factories were active in this area until the 20th century, including the one in Zrece.

After a fire destroyed this factory in 1950, it was rebuilt and became property of the state.
New investments in the company led to the development of new products for tractors as well as car parts and hand tools.
Buyers mainly originated from Slovenia and Eastern Europe.

In 1970 the name was changed from Stajerzka Zrece to Unior, Factory of Forged Tools Zrece.
Its extensive experience in working with iron and steel inspired Unior’s collaboration with Western European companies.
During the 1980s, Unior strengthened its position in the car industry by providing Audi, Volkswagen, Renault Group, BMW and many other companies with forged car parts.
These parts were made of specially developed materials to ensure product reliability and safety.
