Continental has used modern technologies for the GP 5000 S TR TdF to get maximum performance from the tire.
The interaction of the BlackChili rubber mixture specially adapted for the racing bicycle tire with the new tire construction has a positive effect on rolling resistance, cornering grip and mileage.
Two separate 110 tpi carcass plies are used, one of which runs loosely around the bead and over the sidewall.
This increases puncture protection, makes another sealing rubber layer unnecessary and thus reduces the weight of the tire.

High grip and low rolling resistance are mutually exclusive. You have to make a compromise to combine the two.
Continental has improved the composition of the well-known Black Chili compound for the Grand Prix 5000 S TR.
The result is an optimal balance between stiffness and stability for a tire with perfect rolling resistance that is soft enough to provide maximum grip.

- Vectran™ Breaker puncture protection inlay
Everyone wants to be well protected against punctures.
But no one wants to drive around with more weight.
The Vectran™ Breaker anti-puncture layer of the Continental GP 5000 S is inspired by the tear resistance of spider silk.
The layer consists of a synthetically produced liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) fiber that offers enormous resistance.
The fine and dense weave creates a puncture-resistant protective layer against stabs and cuts, which is barely noticeable on the scale.

To improve grip in fast corners, the Grand Prix 5000 S TR has a Laser Grip tread pattern in the shoulder zone.
The micro-profile structure is cut into the rubber with a laser and allows the tire to drive quietly and predictably through bends.

Which tire fits which rim?

The so-called ETRTO size (European Tire and Rim Technical Organisation) consists of two numbers:
the first is the width of the tire in millimeters and the second is the diameter of the tire in millimeters.
City bikes usually have tire size 37-622:
a 37 mm width and a 622 mm diameter.
The tire width must match the rim width.
