The Dura-Ace R9270 Di2 shifter not only supports the new 12-speed drivetrains, but also separates the cable connection between the rear derailleur and the front derailleur.
An integrated sensor with a CR1632 button cell sends the shift commands wirelessly to the rear derailleur as a master unit, which in turn forwards them to the front derailleur.
Complicated wiring in the cockpit with junction box and Bluetooth module is now a thing of the past.
There is only wiring for any satellite switches.
