Since the brake lever absorbs a large part of the braking distance at the beginning of its movement, the brake pads come into contact with the brake disc more quickly and more lever travel remains for modulating the braking force. SERVOWAVE brake systems are characterised by a faster response, higher performance and a shorter idle stroke.

The integrated I-Spec II mounting system for brake and shift levers requires only one clamp. This well-thought-out concept not only contributes to an attractive appearance and a space-saving, clear cockpit, but also ensures a weight saving of around 10 grams. The fine adjustment option in the horizontal direction ensures an individually and optimally adapted setting.

In order to keep the braking performance consistently high during long-term continuous use, Shimano has developed the Ice-Tech cooling technology for brake discs and brake pads. Brake pads with Ice Technologies have aluminium cooling fins that dissipate heat better. In combination with the optimised radiation characteristics of the brake disc, this results in a longer service life of the brake pads while minimising brake noise and fading.

In brake systems with a J-Kit brake line connection, the brake lever has an integrated pinch seal (olive), which makes the overall installation and removal of the brake line much easier.
