Elvedes Cable Systems B.V. has been an importer and manufacturer of mechanical control cables for various sectors since 1965, when Lourens van der Spruijt founded the company. Elvedes focused mainly on moped parts, which were offered directly to retailers. 

After a few years the demand for moped cables grew and this products started to play an important part in the company. 
The bicycle industry was also expanding, prompting the decision to bring the cables to the market through the wholesale sector, under the name Elvedes. 
It started exclusively specializing in cables in 1976. 
Apart from a high demand for cables in the moped and bicycle industry, mechanical cables were also in great demand in other industries. 
Van der Spruijt’s sons Carl and Peter took over the company in 2002. 

Over the past 45 years, Elvedes Cable Systems has become a great family business with a significant commercial presence.
