Disc brake lock

A disc brake lock is a small yet efficient lock and a very effective form of anti-theft protection.
Thanks to its compact shape, transporting this lock is effortless - whether it's by bicycle, in a bag or in your coat pocket.
The lock often comes with a small pouch that can be attached to a belt. 
The way it works is simple enough: open the lock with your key and insert the lock's bracket through one or more openings on the disc brake.
If you have a reminder cable, stick the bracket through this as well.
Then all you have to do is reattach the lock cylinder, using your key, and you're done. 
A second lock is always recommended (and insurance companies often demand it).

Aside from its user-friendly qualities and anti-theft levels, the disc brake lock has another perk that may be small, but is by no means insignificant:
most versions of this lock have a protective layer - made of polyurethane, for example - that prevents the lock from denting and scratching the disc brake itself.
