Reasons to wear a mask

As of December 2020, wearing a face mask is mandatory in public transport and indoor spaces in the Netherlands. 
You might already be in the habit of wearing one on walks or when cycling as a form of added protection.

How to use a mask

Wash the mask after removing its packaging, before first use.
You can wear your mask every day, provided that you wash it regularly.
We recommend wearing a mask no longer than 2 to 3 hours, as its protective value decreases after this time.
Having a number of face masks at your disposal is recommended, making it easier to switch masks whenever you need to (it's also easier to wash several masks at once).
Remove your mask by hooking your index fingers through the elastic bands and (without touching the mask itself) carefully sliding them over your ears.
Make sure you touch the face mask as little as possible and wash your hands carefully after handling it, even if you haven't or have barely touched the fabric. 
If you're out on the go when changing masks, don't just put the used mask in your pocket, but put it in a plastic (zipper) bag first. 
We recommend washing face masks at 90 to 95°C.
Usually face masks can also be washed at 60 degrees, using a disinfectant detergent to eliminate all microbes.
