There are many different hubs available. We’ll tell you a little bit about this bicycle part below, to help you choose the right one. The hub is located in the center of the wheel and is equipped with bearings that help the wheel turn smoothly, so you might say the hub is the actual center of the wheel. On its sides you’ll find the spoke holes.
Front wheels usually have simpler hubs, while rear wheels use hubs with one or several sprockets. Make sure that the hub you choose has the right number of spoke holes, as this can differ widely per hub.

With this hub type, it doesn't matter whether you're going home late or taking off for work before the crack of dawn: a small internal generator guarantees that you’ll always have functioning bicycle lights. 
Road bikes and mountain bikes require different hubs. For example, you're more likely to find a hub with quick release skewer on a road bike. This is a special type of hub that lets you replace a flat tire much faster than usual, saving you precious seconds during a race.
