What's the minimum age for a Yepp rear bike seat?

A basic requirement for the use of any Yepp rear child bike seat, is that the child using it can sit upright by itself. Most children can do this when they're around 9 months old. Yepp rear bike seats are generally recommended for children aged 9 months through 6 years, the Yepp Maxi Easyfit included. 

As for the GMG Yepp Junior seat, both the regular version and the budget edition of this seat are designed for slightly older children, aged 6 through 9 years (depending on their weight).
 

How much weight can a Yepp rear bike seat handle?

Yepp rear bike seats usually have specific age and weight ranges. Both the Yepp Maxi and Yepp Nexxt Maxi rear child bike seats can carry a minimum of 9 kg and a maximum of 22 kg. The Yepp Maxi Junior seat is suitable for children weighing 22 to 35 kg (max.).
 

How to install Yepp rear child bike seats

Yepp child bike seats for rear-mounting are installed on the luggage carrier or the bicycle's seat tube. 
You can mount the child bike seat on the luggage carrier using a special adapter, the Easyfit. If your bicycle doesn't come equipped with one of these, it's possible to buy one separately.

The Easyfit adapter lets you easily install seats like the Thule Yepp Maxi seat on your bicycle (as long as it’s equipped with a carrier with a minimum weight limit of 25 kg).
A lot of bicycles now come with an Easyfit Window as standard, so you can easily install your Yepp rear seat with Easyfit.

Wondering how to install a Yepp rear bike seat on your frame tube? Make sure there's always around 4.5 centimeters worth of space between the saddle and luggage carrier, so there's plenty of room for the seat tube clamp. This way, your bike seat will fit on virtually any bicycle. 

You won't even need a special adapter or sturdy carrier with a high weight limit - all you need is the right size seat tube. Yepp rear bike seats for the seat tube fit on most common 26 and 28 inch bicycles with a frame size of 51 cm and up, and a round seat tube with a diameter of 28 to 40 mm. A seat tube with a 40 mm diameter will also fit, but you’ll need long mounting bolts. 

This type of Yepp rear seat comes with mounting materials that are also available for individual purchase, in case of a seat post clamp breaking or going missing, for example.

Please note that these two mounting methods for the Yepp rear bike seat are not interchangeable.
